Fueled by a thirst for adventure and a deep fascination with the golden era of space exploration, I made my way from Washington, D.C. to Houston. As a passionate fan of NASA’s space program, I was eager to explore everything Houston had to offer in this regard.
If generosity were an Olympic sport, Dr. Maria Curtis would surely win gold—especially among the Arabs, known for their hospitality. Despite the long distance from the Hilton NASA Hotel, she kindly insisted on picking me up and dropping me off at the airport. Her warm hospitality continued throughout my entire stay.

On the second day of my visit, Dr. Maria organized a full day for me at the university. After a tour of the campus, I had a productive meeting and briefing session with participants of the January 2018 trip. During an engaging one-hour presentation, I covered essential Oman travel insights, distributed pre-departure materials, addressed participant questions, and equipped everyone with the knowledge and confidence for their upcoming journey.
The highlight of my visit? A gracious lunch invitation from the university’s Dean—a memorable gesture that perfectly capped this extraordinary experience.
I’ve seen and studied nearly every photo, video, and report released by NASA—especially those related to the incredible Apollo moon missions.
Who wouldn’t be curious about a program where math, science, and engineering were pushed to their absolute limits? The Apollo program remains one of humanity’s most extraordinary achievements.
To fully immerse myself in the experience, I booked a stay at the Hilton NASA Hotel, which is beautifully themed around the Apollo era. As a highlight of my visit, I was fortunate to meet NASA’s test pilots during my first breakfast—an unforgettable start to the trip.
