November 18, 2020, marks the day of 50 years of glory and development and the graceful continuation of this epic history. This momentous occasion represents the march of renaissance that began under the visionary leadership of Late H. M. Sultan Qaboos bin Said bin Taimour, and is pledged to continue under the glorious leadership of H. M. Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik.

The National Day of Oman is a public holiday. School, College, University, and Govt. office is closed in order to observe the National Day celebrations. Omani people publish patriotism by celebrating the day by wearing national cloth.

The highlight of the national day celebration is the glorious national day military parade, which has been held in different cities across Oman since the 1970s.

As the oldest independent Arab nation, Oman takes pride in its National Day celebrations. Typically, camel racers gather from across the country to compete in the annual National Day race, an essential element of Omani heritage that traces back centuries. Both private residences and public buildings are adorned with the national colors of green, white, and red, which are featured prominently on the Oman flag. 

To celebrate, musicians and dancers in cities across Oman put on folkloric performances, symbolizing the nation’s past. Historically played after long voyages or extended conflicts, several genres of Omani music draw inspiration from maritime history.
