- A Critical Migration Crossroads. Oman lies at the crossroads of four distinct regions for migrant birds: Asia, Arabia, Africa, and Europe. Nearly 539 species have been recorded in total since the first record in the 13th century by the famous Arabian explorer Ibn Battuta.
