THE WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY

World Environment Day, celebrated annually on June 5th since 1973, is the UN’s flagship global campaign for environmental awareness. Led by UNEP, it mobilizes millions worldwide to take action for our planet.

Millions of tonnes of plastic flood our oceans yearly, entangling marine life and poisoning creatures like whales and turtles that mistake it for food. As plastics fracture into indestructible microplastics, this crisis now threatens both ecosystems and human health at unprecedented scales.

Plastics persist for centuries, never fully biodegrading but fragmenting into microplastics – particles so small they evade cleanup and infiltrate ecosystems. These invisible pollutants now contaminate even human blood and organs, proving more pervasive and dangerous than their source materials like bottles or packaging.

Panorama Travel Leads the Change – Proudly Banning Single-Use Plastics to Protect Arabia’s Pristine Beauty

At Panorama Travel, we’ve measured the plastic footprint of tourism – and the results demand action. Each guest generates 3kg of single-use plastic during a 10-14 day tour. With Oman welcoming over 3 million visitors annually, this creates an environmental challenge we can’t ignore. That’s why we’re pioneering plastic-free tours, proving that sustainable travel can protect Oman’s natural wonders without compromising comfort.

Starting June 5, 2023, Panorama Travel will eliminate all single-use plastics from our tours. But we can’t do this alone—we need your help to push for industry-wide change. Demand that corporations reduce their plastic production before this ‘Plastic Monster’ overwhelms our planet. Together, we can send this crisis back where it belongs: out of our ecosystems for good.

Global brands like Nestlé, Unilever, Coca-Cola, Pepsi Co, Colgate, Danone, Johnson & Johnson, and Mars must lead the change – it’s time to innovate beyond single-use plastics. We demand sustainable alternatives for product delivery that protect our planet, not pollute it. The era of disposable packaging must end now.
