There are hundreds of springs in the Dhofar Mountains, the Athum spring being the most popular. It attracts many exotic birds, both migratory and residents amid beautiful surroundings.
DISCOVER SUMHARAM UNESCO ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE
Khor Rori is considered as a key area for human inhabitation in BC times. Frankincense trade from the ports of Sumhuram played a great role in the prosperity of the old kingdoms through the trading convoys from Dhofar to destinations as far as Shabwa, Marib, Al-Batra, and reaching the civilizations of Mesopotamia, Ancient Egypt, the Northern coasts of the Mediterranean Sea, Eastern Indus Valley, and China.

Wadi Darbat is an important and unique nature reserve. During the heavy monsoons, water from Wadi Darbat flows down into Khawr Rawri and into the sea forming a spectacular waterfall

The town was once a prosperous port with silver-white beaches and gleaming white buildings. Taqah Castle is one of Dhofar’s most distinguished landmarks.
