Overview

Oman Geology Field Trip is a customized 10-30 days field study designed and led by Panorama Travel experts. The trip opens the door for companies, academic organizations, schools, and individuals for a field study of the Sultanate’s unique geo-heritage, which is almost unrivaled anywhere on Earth.

Oman has much to offer for professional and amateur geologists. For amateur geologists, Oman offers a great opportunity to explore & study an array of geo-heritage phenomena, many of which are world-class in a place where the rocks are exposed, not hidden beneath soil or vegetation. It would possibly take a lifetime wandering around the world to observe the geology features which can be found in Oman

On this tour, we will explore the majestic Hajar Mountains one of the world’s best natural geological museums.  We will take you on a journey that opens a window into the Earth’s past from up to 600 million years ago. We will Discover the ‘Al Ruba Al Khali’ the Empty Quarter (the world’s largest Ocean of sand). We will investigate the desert quicksands and the domes of salt that have brought rocks over 600 million years old to the surface. We will explore hot springs, sinkholes, and some of the world’s largest caves. We will explore Muscat, some of Oman’s unique ancient towns, medieval forts, and souqs. We will wander in the heaven of Oman’s majestic wadis (valleys) and visit some of Oman’s most beautiful villages.
