It’s always a pleasure to return to Germany—especially to Bavaria, a region rich in culture, history, and hospitality. Despite the busy tourism season back home, duty called, and I couldn’t decline a request from my superior at the tourism committee to represent Panorama Travel on this Oman Munich Business Trip.
Germany remains Oman’s top source market for tourism, and at Panorama Travel, we have long understood the importance of this relationship. In fact, Germany was the very first international market we served, and to this day, we continue to provide tailored services for our German partners. This trip was another step forward in strengthening those ties.
Our journey began with a smooth, six-hour direct Oman Air flight to Munich. Arriving in the late afternoon, we took some time to explore Munich’s vibrant city center. The cultural blend was instantly recognizable—not only because it was my second visit, but also due to the many Arab-owned businesses and restaurants offering familiar Turkish, Syrian, and Iraqi flavors, reflecting Munich’s diverse communities.

The next day, I had the honor of speaking on behalf of our delegation during our official meeting at the Munich Chamber of Commerce. After a warm welcome and introductory remarks by the Chamber’s chairman, we enjoyed an impressive presentation showcasing the beauty and potential of Bavaria. This was followed by productive B2B meetings with local travel agents, where we discussed opportunities for collaboration in tourism. The exchange was insightful and promising.
One highlight of the trip was our visit to Garmisch-Partenkirchen—often referred to as the crown jewel of the Bavarian Alps. It holds a special place in Omani hearts as it was where the late His Majesty Sultan Qaboos spent eight months during his medical treatment abroad. The serene landscapes and crisp Alpine air provided a moment of reflection and connection to history.

Our final evening in Bavaria was marked by a special event: the screening of the highly anticipated documentary series Sons of Sinbad at the Bavarian State Academy for Television and Film. The three-part series highlights pivotal moments and figures in Oman’s rich history. The event drew a large crowd, with all tickets sold out—proof of the growing global interest in Oman’s story and cultural heritage.
